Zainhom strikes at York
Latest news from this afternoon's meeting at York as Sir Michael Stoute won the opener with Zainhom.
Paul Hanagan: York winner
Sir Michael Stoute's good recent form continued with the victory of Zainhom in the Judith Marshall Memorial EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes at York.
After saddling winners at four different tracks on Saturday, he racked up a fifth winning venue of the weekend with the son of Street Cry.
Third of five on his debut, he took a big leap forward from that under Paul Hanagan and comfortably saw off the Richard Hannon newcomer Dick Tracy by two and a quarter lengths with the favourite First Up back in third.
"I quite like him, but he's still a big baby," said Hanagan.
"It was only his second run and hopefully that will have made a man of him.
"It didn't seem a bad race on paper but we only went slow early on so you wouldn't know."
He added: "The ground's good to soft, despite all the rain they always do a good job of it here."
